I spend several weeks in the Hilton Colon for business. The facilities are great. There is a nice gym, great pool, and a number of restaurants. The massages in the spa are heavenly, as is the Jacuzzi. The service is very attentive and the facilities are super clean. However, there were several things that bothered me. The location is terrible and there is nothing within walking distance.
Most disagreeable however, is that there seem to be a number of prostitutes in the bar almost every night of the week. These women are hanging out with older businessmen and they pull up by the taxi load in the evenings. Concierge will sort out your trips outside the hotel- Guayaquil is a scary city. Dear Peter, we are so glad you enjoyed our country and your stay at our hotel. Hope you come back soon. We stated here on our way to and from the Galapagos. What a great oasis in the middle of an otherwise unimpressive city.
The pool is great for adults and kids alike and the pool bar is a great place to get a drink and relax. We were not impressed that out of 5 advertised restaurants only 1 was open and the food and service were mediocre but the rooms are wonderful and comfortable so we were overall very happy.
